"This will not only help promote the economy of Kampuchea during the COVID-19 period, but also help to reduce poverty in rural areas," he said. Fresh mango is the second fresh fruit in Cambodia to enter the Chinese market directly after banana. This is a new achievement of positive cooperation between Cambodia and China. "

He said that Cambodia has nearly 132000 hectares of mango cultivation, with an annual output of about 1.38 million tons. Five packaging plants approved by China Customs last month can use hot water treatment (HWT) or steam heat treatment (VHT) facilities to disinfect and kill mangoes. The total capacity of the approved facility is 100000 tons per year.

“We hope to develop more facilities in the mango plantation to meet the needs of the export market. We will build a drip irrigation system similar to that of the banana plantation, and there will also be a factory to clean the fruit before packaging and a mango dried processing plant,” Lak said.
