Demand for yellow-fleshed kiwis is growing rapidly in Europe and Asia.
Jingold, Italy, will celebrate its 20th anniversary this year. According to the report, demand in Asia and Europe remains strong as the northern hemisphere Kiwi sales season draws to a close. The company is looking forward to a good start for the southern hemisphere season.
Jean Charles regnard, director of jingold Chile, said Chile's high-quality yellow flesh Kiwi variety, golden peach, will grow 15 per cent from last year. 2021, he claims, will be a season of hope. "Fortunately, production was not affected by the heavy rain in the central region at the beginning of this year, nor by the persistent drought in Chile," he told Asian fruit. "Fruit quality should also be good, and we believe it will be in the ideal size range."
Golden peach mainly grows in San Fernando, Curic ó and Colchagua in central Chile. Regnard said that these areas have the ideal climate for Kiwifruit growth, and fortunately they have avoided the threat of PSA virus.
